New Funds for Social Security Backlog
According to this article in Real Clear Politics, Congress has allotted an additional $100 million to help bring down the massive backlog of cases. Wait times for a hearing are close to two years in some places. Quite simply, social security needs more staff and more judges to get out decisions. Hopefully, these additional funds will be used properly to increase staff so we can get more decisions out and reduced the wait time for hearings.
